AIAS Partners

The University of Piraeus Research Center (UPRC) facilitates the research activities of university members in different programs and initiatives. In this context, the Department of Digital Systems (through UPRC) has been actively involved and coordinated a significant number of (i) EU funded R&D projects, (ii) National (Greek) projects, and (iii) Projects developed in collaboration with enterprises (both international and national). The Systems Security Laboratory (SSL) team of the UPRC that will lead AIAS is comprised of members with high security expertise, which allows them to actively contribute and participate in ML-driven cyberattack detection, blockchain, smart contracts, distributed managements, identity management and other security and privacy related tasks.

The Network, Information and Computer Security (NICS) Lab is a research group of the University of Malaga (UMA). Founded in 1994, it is actually composed of 20+ persons, including faculty members, post-doc researchers, top PhD students, and technical and management staff. NICS members have published 300+ papers, including 90+ in ISI-ranked journals. They have actively participated in international security committees and initiatives, as well as in the organization of international conferences and workshops. They also have been actively involved in over 50 national and European research projects in the areas of critical infrastructures security, Cloud/Edge security, and Internet of Things security, including FP5, FP6, FP7, H2020 and Horizon Europe Programmes. Over the years, NICS members have been especially active in technology transfer, and has closely collaborated with relevant companies as well as with public entities like the Spanish Ministry of Defense, the Andalusian Government, and RedIRIS (Spanish advanced communications network for academic and R+D Centres).

K3Y Ltd (K3Y) is a dynamic Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) specialising in cybersecurity and Research and Development (R&D) activities. Founded in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2018, K3Y primarily serves the European and Bulgarian markets while actively participating in national and European Union (EU)-funded projects. K3Y’s core activities can be categorised into two primary areas: (a) Cybersecurity Services and (b) R&D Activities. In the realm of Cybersecurity Services, K3Y offers four main services: Vulnerability Assessment, Penetration Testing, Purple Teaming, and Cybersecurity Consulting. On the other side, K3Y participates in several R&D projects and initiatives, such as SPIDER, RAINBOW, SwiftV2X, SANCUS, 5G-INDUCE, TREEADS, INCODE, UP2030 and ACROSS. In AIAS, K3Y participates in most of the WPs, focusing on detection and mitigation services.

CNIT (National, Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications, www.cnit.it) is a non-profit consortium, established in 1995, bringing together 42 public Italian universities to perform research, innovation and education/training activities in the field of the Information and Communication Technology.

CNIT operates 50 Research Units, one for each member university, plus eight other units belonging to institutes of the National Research Council (CNR, the largest public research institution in Italy) that reached a cooperation agreement with CNIT. CNIT also operates seven National Laboratories: Photonic Networks & Technologies (located in Pisa); Radar & Surveillance Systems (located in Pisa); Multimedia Communications (located in Napoli); Smart, Sustainable and Secure Internet Technologies and Infrastructures (located in Genova); Wireless Communications (located in Bologna/Cesena/Ferrara); Network Assessment, Assurance and Monitoring (located in Rome). More than 1,300 professors and researchers, belonging to the member universities, collaborate within CNIT, together with more than 80 CNIT own employees. CNIT participated in hundreds of research projects, including EU coordinated projects, ERC grants and Italian nation-wide initiatives. In H2020 European program the CNIT has obtained 61 projects and coordinated 15 of them, while in HORIZON EUROPE the CNIT has obtained 24 projects and coordinated 9 of them. CNIT has also a significant experience in the organization of scientific events and conferences.

The innovation and technology transfer of research results towards end-users and industry is a primary mission for CNIT. CNIT also promotes the collaboration between member universities and other educational institutes as well as technical and scientific collaborations with national and international research institutes and industries.

FOG is an R&D SME in Greece with a strong research record and vast experience in managing and implementing R&I actions. FOG provides a comprehensive set of services including: blockchain-based optimizations, software development, MEC-enabled services, simulation and experimentation setups, modeling and performance evaluation for 5G/6G networks. Holding experience that ranges from the design of mobile network protocols to development of custom-made software, FOG undertakes: i) end-to-end set-up of network simulation and emulation environments for connected intelligence, ii) MEC-empowered service provisioning and integration in 5G/6G, iii) blockchain-backed network service design for the ICT sector. FOG is active in leading consortia and forums for 5G/6G networks, e.g., member of the 5GPPP Technology Board, 6GIA member and section editor of 5GPPP White Papers on the EU Vision on 6G. FOG is ETSI member as well as founding member of the ETSI OpenCAPIF working group.

Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (UPV) is a dynamic, innovative, public institution, dedicated to research and teaching that keeps strong ties with the social environment in which its activities are performed and, simultaneously, has an important presence abroad. Today, over 39,000 members integrate our academic community: 35,000 of these are students, 2,387 are teachers and 1,593 belong to administration. UPV includes 15 faculty centres: ten schools, three faculties, two higher polytechnic schools (Alcoy and Gandia), and five associated institutions. The research lab involved in AIAS is the Distributed Real Time Systems Lab (DRTSL) which belongs to the Communications Department. The department is composed of several research groups whose activities include a big number of fields within ICT, such as: Big Data Analytics, Internet of Things, mobile communications, distributed real time systems, SDN or broadband networks.

PDMFC part of PDM (Projeto Desenvolvimento Manutenção) group, is an IT company with a strong presence in the world of Information Systems since 1993, providing and implementing state-of-the-art solutions (products and services), both in T&M and turnkey projects. Over the years, the main goal of PDM has been to innovate. In this regard, PDM excelled through participating in national and European projects such as Portugal 2020 and Horizon 2020, which allowed to enrich, develop, and provide avant-garde solutions. Leveraging the know-how and synergies of technological resources from 10 other PDM companies covering areas from IT, Telecommunications, Gaming, Marketing, Electronics, Finance Investments and Social Economy. PDM significantly invested in solid partnerships with recognized enterprises such as IBM, being a Silver partner with a particular focus on Security, Oracle, with a Gold level partnership with a core emphasis on Middleware, Cloud and Security areas and Microsoft, achieving the Gold Level Partnership. With more than 120 applications in different national and international incentive programs (QREN, Portugal 2020, Horizon 2020, 7th Framework Program, 6th Framework Program), PDM is privileged to be part of the development of projects in Research and Technological Development (R&D), in partnership with several internationally recognized companies.
